Our latest gambling modelling has focused on the likely distribution of harms across Wales using our spatial risk index, as part of a Bangor University led research report, commissioned and funded by the Policy, Research and International Development Directorate of Public Health Wales. The wider research considers the challenges and benefits of a public-health approach to gambling harms, and some policy options.
Gambling harms are unlikely to be uniformly distributed across social groups, and this also differs by geography. As such, different policy responses are required in different places. By breaking down the drivers of harm spatially, we can provide an evidence-base to inform what the best approach may be in a local area, and how this compares quantitatively to other areas.
