NIMA from Ipsos MORI

Ipsos MORI’s Social Research Institute is the leader in public sector research, helping policy and decision makers understand what works.

In June 2009, Ipsos MORI launched a new bespoke mapping service for their Social Research Institute clients, offering geographical visualisation of perception data in local areas.

The National Indicators Mapping Application (NIMA) was developed by Geofutures, and designed to bring added value and insight to survey results analysis. It’s simple to use, eye-catching and informative for any user. Data maps can be instantly printed or incorporated into reports and presentations.

The NIMA core package is modelled on the recent local government place survey, but this genuinely cross-cutting approach can be applied to all major social policy areas, including crime & policing, health, education and regeneration.

Together with survey data, the NIMA core package delivers contextual datasets including:

  • deprivation index
  • population size
  • ethnic diversity
  • life expectancy
  • crime rates
  • geo-demographics (OAC)

Enhanced versions of NIMA (and applications based on it) are fully scaleable and available over flexible licence periods. Users can upload their own data for comparison, and specify ad-hoc geographical catchment areas for viewing results. Comparable datasets can also be used to produce time series maps and charts.

It offers huge potential for furthering partnership working as well as insight into local area geographies, and the team at Ipsos MORI are delighted to discuss any specific requirements you may have.
